FAQ’s

  • When can I pick up library items?
    • Curbside Appointments will be available Monday through Thursday, 10am-8:30pm, and Friday & Saturday, 10am-4:30pm.
  • Curbside Pickup Appointments
    • You are able to pick up library materials from the designated location outside of the library building. All holds are placed in a bag, labeled with your first initial and last name, and alphabetically sorted on tables in our pickup tent.
    • Please remain patient as we provide curbside pickup to everyone requesting library items. Some items may not be available due to necessary quarantine protocols.

  • Returns
    • You can return what you checked out from LTPL prior to the pandemic and State-mandated closure
    • You can return items borrowed from other TLN system libraries at LTPL
    • Mobile Hotspots and Library of Things’ items must be returned to a staff member and not placed in the return box or cans. Please call (248)437-8800 to schedule a time to return these fragile items.
    • All returns are put in a 72 hour quarantine before circulating again.
  • I want to borrow more library stuff
    • Browse our catalog at: https://catalog.tln.lib.mi.us/?section=home
    • Currently you can place holds & checkout items from our library only, we do not have inter-library loan at this time.
    • Call (248)437-8800 to make a curbside pickup appointment to pick up LTPL library items that you have placed on hold
  • I want to keep what I’ve borrowed (renewals)
    • Call us to renew, (248)437-8800
  • I didn’t pick up my holds curbside on time, what happens?
    • We can reschedule your pickup time to a later date.
    • Holds are held for seven days. Once that time period passes, we put the library items back into circulation for the community.
  • Mobile Hotspots
    • Please do not return Mobile Hotspots in the outside return boxes/cans

      • Our newsletter is emailed twice a month, or more, depending on Federal, State and CDC guidelines regarding business operations and the Coronavirus

    • Hours
      • While the building is closed to the public, LTPL has resumed our normal hours of operations
      • Mon – Thurs 10 am to 9 pm
      • Fri & Sat 10 am to 5pm
      • Sundays, we are closed between Memorial Day and Labor Day
      • On Sundays, after Labor Day and before Memorial Day, we are open 12pm-4pm
    • Apply for a Library Card
      • Please fill out the contact us form with the list of required information on our website or call.

      • We can issue you a library card number over the phone, or through email.
      • Physical cards will be given out once we reopen to the public
    • Book Donations
      • We are not accepting any book donations at the time.
    • Reopening the building
      • We are currently in the process of preparing the library building for reopening, putting in safety measures and disinfecting protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of our community members and staff.
      • Reopening date is TBD.
    • Genealogy Appointments
    • Technology Help
      • You can make an appointment to speak with our Technology Coordinator to receive one-on-one assistance regarding using the library services, troubleshooting email issues, and more.

    • Placing Holds
      • You are now able to place holds on LTPL owned materials.

  • Borrowing from other libraries through TLN
    • We are currently unable to borrow from other TLN libraries
    • The date for placing holds on items from other libraries has still not been determined by our consortium, the Library Netowrk. As soon as we have more information, we will update our website and social media pages.
  • Borrowing through MeLcat
    • We are currently unable to receive MeLcat items
  • Printing/Faxing
    • On request, we can print or fax items that are emailed to: ltplprint@gmail.com with instructions.
  • Masks
    • Staff are wearing PPE in the library building while conducting business operations.
    • We are asking that community members wear Masks when visiting the library once we reopen. We can provide masks if you do not have one.
  • Sanitation and Disinfecting
    • A cleaning crew regularly cleans the building once a day, at night.
    • Staff have disinfectant to use on library materials and equipment throughout the day
    • Disinfectant wipes and gel dispensers have been installed throughout the building for the public once we reopen.
  • Social Distancing
    • Library guests will be asked to observe the recommended 6 feet apart for social distancing.
  • Events
  • Community Center
    • The Community Center is being used for material quarantine & virtual programming. We are not scheduling private use at this time.
  • Summer Reading
    • Registration
    • Tracking/Logging times spent reading
      • READsquared has the ability to keep track of your time spent reading. Login and update your minutes in the app or online, through the READsquared website.
      • You may get a paper reading log by request. Call us at 248-437-8800 to request a paper log.
    • Participate in “Missions”
      • Complete various activities listed in READsquared to accrue points toward prizes.
    • Play games in READsquared
      • READsquared offers fun games online and in the app. Play games to accrue points toward prizes.
    • Attend virtual library events
    • Prizes
      • Will be made available to choose from in the READsquared website/app starting July 1st and will end August 31st. Prizes will be available as supplies last.
    • Take & Make kits
      • Sign up to receive the weekly Take & Make kits here: https://www.lyon.lib.mi.us/take-make-kits/
      • We are offering Craft and STEAM kits for children and families
      • Kits may be picked up on Tuesdays, a week after registration for the kits. Please call the library at 248-437-8800 to arrange your pickup.
    • Internet
      • FREE WiFi is available in our parking lot while the library building is closed.
      • Connect to LTPL Guest, or to LTPL T-Mobile Staff with PW LTPLstaff
    • Discovery Kits

    • Library of Things

    • Fines
      • LTPL is a fine-free library
      • During the library’s State-mandated closure, library cardholders did not accrue any fines from LTPL. All due dates were extended as Federal and State Executive orders were issued or updated/extended.
