Love your library? To ensure that libraries are properly funded we urge you to let your legislators know how much the library means to you.
The Governor’s plan to eliminate or phase out the personal property tax (PPT) is estimated to result in a $1.2 billion cut to libraries, schools, community colleges and more. Although it appeared that the Personal Property Tax (PPT) Phase Out legislation was going to be deferred to next year, it is now clear that there is a strong push to move ahead during lame duck session.
We urge our patrons to contact their local legislators to ensure that there is adequate funding for public libraries, by writing letters or visiting their websites.
The Lyon Township Public Library would lose over $31,000 of state funding this year if the PPT is eliminated!
