Adopt A Book

Adoptabook

The Lyon Township Public Library’s Adopt-a-Book program provides a unique opportunity to combine a love of books and learning with the aspiration to support library development and growth.

Your contribution of $25 allows the library to purchase a book to help in our continuing quest to develop an outstanding library collection that meets the needs of the Lyon  Township community.
All Adopt-a-Book donations are tax deductible.

Acknowledgement of donation

The Adopt-a-Book program provides an excellent opportunity to honor individuals, family members, or friends with a commemorative bookplate. You could also have a bookplate stating that you are the one who made purchase of the book possible. Alternatively, you can remain anonymous.

What books can I adopt?

Is there a specific item you would like to see in the library?  Is there a subject area you would like to see more of?  Would you rather let us choose an item for you?  These are all options available to you in this program.

Adopt-a-Book is a perfect commemorative gift for:

  • Birthdays
  • In Memoriam
  • Anniversaries
  • Retirements
  • Graduations
  • Receiving a scholarship or award
  • Winning an athletic championship

How Can I Help?

Donations

Monetary donations of any size are always appreciated. The list of things the library needs is substantial, and you may choose how your donated money is spent or you may leave it up to the discretion of the director. You may also choose how publicly or privately your gift will be acknowledged.

You can receive a credit of 50% of your contribution directly off your Michigan income tax for a donation to a public library in Michigan. (Maximum $100 for single return, $200 for a joint return) This is a tax credit - it comes off your tax after you have taken all of your deductions. Your gift can also count as a charitable donation in the Federal Tax Code if you itemize your deductions. Always consult your tax professional for advice on charitable donations.

Adopt a Magazine

Patrons or businesses who wish to donate a magazine subscription for one or more years will have their gift acknowledged by a sticker on the cover of every issue. What a great (and inexpensive) way to show fellow patrons that you care about your library and your community!
