April 17, 2017 SL Herald Article

The April 17 South Lyon Herald article incorrectly stated that our current millage rate is .36, when it is actually .5205 after Headlee rollback. We are asking for a replacement millage, not a millage increase, which will replace the current millage when it expires at the end of 2017. The proposed millage is for 10 years and will allow the library to continue operation until 2027, and does include an increase of .36 over the current millage rate to provide longer hours of operation, more services, and professional staffing on weekends and every weekday to help customers. An operating millage must be approved by voters by the end of 2017 for the library to continue to operate.
